Glen Scotia Victoriana

The hidden gem of Campbelltown?

WHISKY TASTING

San Unfiltered Erasani

11/10/2023

Color: Deep Amber

Price: $$

Nose: Some lemon to begin with, more like a lemon meringue pie, that burnt sugar sweetness, caramel, spice, pepper, a little malty, light fresh fruits, a little bit of brine from the coast and a little bit of Campbelltown funk in the very end there.

Palate: Oily, Robust, full bodied, a light malty note, some of that coastal brine on the palate, i don’t think there is any peat in here but that deep charred oak casks coming though a bit, a tinge bit of that salt/ brine again, faint musty oak/ sandal wood (Campbelltown funk) and some nice spice.

Finish: Long and ends in a nice warm spice on the upper front palate. Some of the dark chocolate comes though in the end, very clean spirit, very robust and thick.

Final Thoughts:
Love this bottle, love Campbeltown offerings. Gone are the days where you could walk into any store here in North Texas and grab a bottle of Springbank 12 or 15 with ease. Really miss those old days, i miss my Springbank 12, but in its place i think the Glen Scotia fits in nicely. Not as great as the Cask Strength Springbank 12 but still a stellar offering from Glen Scotia. Definitely a hidden gem of the Campbelltown, still affordable and can easily be acquired (at least in my local market). Wish Glen Scotia could put an age on this bottle and be a little more transparent on what’s in it. However having complained that this is an NAS (NoAgeStatement) offering, i personally could not find any younger whiskies from what i could decipher on the palate. Very clean, while still being a flavor bomb, no alcohol bite for a 54.2% ABV, very easy drinking. Grab a bottle while you still can and keep this a secret between us.
