Nose: Lemon Peel, White Pepper, Citrus, some sweetness almost like a lemon pie of sorts, some dark fruits on the backend, Waxy, Green apple, some kind of a light tea.
Palate: The citrus stays on and on…
White pepper on the sides, a little spice on the mid palate
Long lingering citrus, More of that lemon meringue pie
Very Waxy and thick, got a bite to it.
Finish: Very long finish. The pepper fades off after a bit but the green apples and citrus lingers for quite long time. The spirit coats the whole mouth, no alcohol sting from the 55.2% ABV but makes it presence known.
With a couple drops of water
On the Nose: The flavors are more pronounced, the citrus, apple, figs, berries, everything feels more amplified with a couple drops of water. A new light grassy note makes itself known.
Palate: The nose doesn’t follow through on the palate with water. The spirit becomes more rounded and a little muted. The citrus is still there but a little muted, the berries and dark fruits kind of disappear. the pepper is no more present. Slight pop on the Green apples and Ice tea.
Final Thoughts:
Typical Clynelish, very waxy. Amazing taste, super long finish. Be in no hurry, when you are trying this, this is one of those where you take your time and enjoy the spirit. The cask is probably re-used a few times here. Helps the liquid shine naturally without effecting the base spirit. I personally like it with out the water here.
