Aberlour 11 Yr Sherry Cask: Distillery Exclusive
Exploring the Elegance
WHISKY TASTING

Color: Mahogany / Dark Amber
Price: $$
Nose: Rich Stewed fruit, Fruit Cake, Dark Raisins, Plums, Christmas Cake, light Ginger, Sultanas, Figs, More fruit cake, some nice old leather sofa. Very rich, makes me salivate.
Palate: Some spice, some light oak, Some vanilla, not big sweet sherry bomb, more balanced sherry. Good example of an Oloroso sherry vs a PX Sherry cask influence on the spirit. Not very sweet, some dark chocolates, some leathery notes, dark fruits, Some light pears and ginger.
Finish: There is a initial burst in your mouth coating the whole mouth, oily character. Then the burst drops to a mid level and continues long with a light spice, not sweet at all, balanced dark cholate a bit drying towards the end.
Final Thoughts:
Love the Nose and the balance on the palate. The Sherry is powerful and present, yet not very dominating, but well balanced. You can say its an Oloroso cask, no Sulphur notes at all which is good for my personal taste. Solid dram, if you can get your hands on a bottle.
Score: 88/100
